Our trip to Chicago - Day II
When we woke up at the hostel where all the girls shared one dorm, it was already time for breakfast, so we got ready. After breakfast we packed our things to check out. At 9 o`clock we met in the lobby, where we met the others and gave Mr. Ziliak the cards of our rooms (just in case you do not know who Mr. Ziliak is: He is one of the two German teachers at Ben Davis; he will come over to Germany in spring. The little girl that you can see on some of the Chicago pictures is his daughter. The other German teacher is called Mrs Dawn. She came over in 2012 and 2010).
After that we went to the train station, where we left our luggage in lockers. Then we walked up to Willis Tower, where we watched a little movie about it and went up to the skydeck. Up to 2009 Willis Tower was called Sears Tower. It is the highest building in Chicago, the second highest building in America and the ninth highest building in the world with its high of 527,3 m. It has 108 floors and it takes about 70 seconds to reach the top with the escalator. The view from the skydeck was fantastic: You could look through the big windows but also go in one of the glass boxes that are attached to the building and reach out into the sky. You could also buy souvenirs at the shops in the building.

When we came out, we decided to go to the Cloud Gate, also called “The Big Bean”. It is a public sculpture in Millenium Park. We took some pictures (see photo 4) and went then to the Hard Rock Café Shop to buy some shirts or other stuff.

After that we had some free time to eat something and meet the group after that, to drive home with the Megabus. The trip lasted a bit more than three hours (plus one hour time difference between Illinois and Indiana). When we arrived in Indianapolis at about 8 p.m., we were picked up by our host families.
